Time for a little animal magic!
THE life and times of less familiar creatures were explored at Links Day Centre in Wellingborough earlier this month when a special reptile and animal show was held for individuals with learning disabilities.
Tony’s Reptile Show introduced a range of animals – including snakes, lizards, a skunk and a meerkat and everyone had the chance of an exclusive sensory experience with each animal. The animal expert also talked about the creatures and explained all the different varieties, their habitats, their eating habits, mating and shedding.
Julie Cariga, house service manager at Links Day Centre, organised the event. She said: “This was a wonderful experience for the people we support. The reptiles and animals were specially chosen to help individuals overcome the unfamiliar, and they gave them such a wonderful experience discovering a range of prickly, smooth, wrinkly and cold creatures.”
The day centre specialises in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs and is part of Consensus, a family-owned service provider.
