New talent sought for 2016 Olympics

IN  2012, the UK sailing Olympic team are hoping to repeat their past successes – and it’s bound to lead to a lot of people becoming interested in taking sailing up as a hobby.

Clubs at grass roots level, like Cransley Sailing Club are playing their part in keeping the new talent coming into the sport, and the club is holding an open day on Sunday, May 6 to give visitors the chance to find out more about the sport.

Principal Training Instructor Nigel Austin commented: “There’s an Open Day on Sunday May 6 where anyone interested can find out whether they might be a next potential gold medallist. Or perhaps just enjoy the most relaxing but exciting sport, that all the family can take part in.

“If you like it perhaps we can interest you in learning to sail later in the year – you never know, in a few years you might even want to join our new instructors.”
