TEN NEW STARS!
Local performers to share stage with professional cast
TEN Corby residents are to star in a show all about their town next month.
The group has been selected by award-winning UK theatre company Frantic Assembly to help create and star in ‘No Way Back’, being performed at The Core at Corby Cube on Thursday July 9 and Friday 10th.
All ten non-professional performers are from Corby, home town to Frantic Assembly’s co-founder and artistic director Scott Graham and associate director Neil Bettles. Joining the cast are locals Natalie Chisholm, Johnny Cruickshank, Maureen Gallacher, Sam Gooding, Nikki Hammond, India Martin, Stacey Miller, Gordon Ritchie, Lisa Shepherd and Louise Slaven.
Frantic Assembly artists performing with them are Sofie Burgoyne, Sally Harris, Jonnie Riordan, Vicki Manderson, Steven Miller and Krista Vuori.
Local performers Lisa Shepherd and Sam Goddard commented on being selected via a weekend of trials. Lisa said: “I can’t quite believe that it’s happening! Really excited about the opportunity to work with such a great company, to be part of something which brings together stories from the community of Corby and turns those stories into a high quality original piece of theatre.”
Sam added: “Words can’t describe how happy I am to be part of a fantastic company such as Frantic Assembly. It’s an unbelievable opportunity that will allow me to work with other members from the community on this project. It will be a phenomenal experience and I have no doubt we’ll create a special show – one to remember.”
Helen Willmott, Made in Corby’s programme manager, said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get involved and perform alongside professionals from one of the most exciting theatre companies in the UK. Congratulations to all those selected.”
Frantic Assembly’s Neil Bettles added: “We were very impressed with everyone who came to the trials weekend. The standard was extremely high which made it very hard to choose the final ten. We now have a brilliant team of local Corby people who will play their part in a very special show, inspired by events in our lives that have shaped who we are.”
