In the pink for charities
A FUNDRAISING event in support of cancer charities is being arranged by the Rotary Club of Wellingborough Hatton this month.
Duncan Forbes, communications officer for the local club, said: “Currently, we are supporting the charities Breast Cancer Now and Prostate Cancer UK with an evening of light popular music – a concert by Boobs and Brass (pictured), an all-female Northamptonshire-based brass band who have, since their formation in 2006, raised more than £170,000 for Breast Cancer Now.
“This is taking place on Saturday October 17 at 7.30pm at The United Reformed Church, High Street, Wellingborough. Tickets, £10, are available from Warwicks, High Street, Wellingborough or by calling: 01933 225596 / 01832 720401. Or for further information go to our website: www.rotary.org “Our club is part of Rotary International, an organisation that raises money for good causes throughout the world and is made up of a network of clubs like ourselves.
“Among other international initiatives, Rotary is part of the work driven by Bill Gates to eradicate polio throughout the world – which has now almost been achieved.
“We operate locally by raising considerable sums for local charities as well as providing support for Glamis Hall for All – a voluntary organisation, providing a community and wellbeing centre for local people.
