Vandals torch vintage bus at museum
A FIRE has destroyed a 1960s single decker bus parked at Rushden Transport Museum, which members had almost finished restoring.
No confirmation has been received as the incident is still being investigated by police and fire chiefs, but locals believe teenage vandals were responsible.
The blaze destroyed the vintage Bristol Coach 273 and damaged the paintwork and coachwork of a ‘bubble car’ train carriage next to it – volunteers have since been working to repair the damaged unit.
Neighbours saw the flames and alerted the fire service shortly after midnight on Bank Holiday Monday last week. Fire crews from Irthlingborough and Rushden attended the scene and used two hosereels and four items of breathing apparatus to get the flames under control.
