Get set to sparkle
Corby’s November 5th display is free to attend
REMEMBER, remember and make a note in your diaries! The Fifth of November will bring yet another family fun event to Corby with the borough council laying on a free display at Corby Boating Lake, Cottingham Road.
From 6.30pm on Thursday November 5, residents can join the Torchlight Procession that will be assembling at the Corby East Midlands International Pool Car Park entrance. It will set off at 6.45pm, led by the piper to light the bonfire at 7pm. The main event will then take place at 7.30pm as the sky is lit with an amazing firework display, set off on Westcott Way, opposite the bonfire.
Visitors are asked not to park by the roadside or on the verges near the Boating Lake and are reminded to wear warm clothing and suitable footwear. And, it will be dark! So take along a torch along with you.
As in previous years, this event is free, but there will be a bucket collection on the night, with all donations going to the mayor’s charities – The Air Ambulance and Teamwork Trust.
Corby Borough Council’s lead member for community, Cllr John McGhee, said: “We are very lucky here in Corby that we have such an amazing bonfire night that is free for all to attend. We simply couldn’t do it without the support of our fantastic sponsors, which this year are Barratt Homes, Pilz and David Wilson Homes. I am also pleased to be able to support the event myself along with fellow county councillors, Mary Butcher, Julie Brookfield and Bob Scott.
“We look forward to seeing thousands of you enjoying the night.”
